The music built, horns came in, strings layered, there were kettle drums mixed with electric guitars, a barely audible piano part making everything fat. The snare gave it a feeling of war and regiment whilst the strings soared above like a beautiful bird or a colourful waterfall, a fast flowing river, a bombastic dramatic chase as verbose as the language I’m using to describe it. It gushed with human emotion, brimming with passion, beauty and careful thought.
I’m listening to this and sitting in Starbucks, I look out of the window and see a row of generic bland shops. All around faces are blank, lost looking, bored, pensive. I say to the guy behind the coffee counter 'what's the music?' and without looking up he say's 'I have no idea' then he turns away.
No love.....
